According to Seminoleusage he had to leave his old camp and livewith the family of his new squaw. As shewas a widow with six children and Tommyalready had a few of his own, it is doubtfulif he escaped altogether the white mansburden. The camp was the conventionalone of the well-to-do Seminole and con-tained such evidences of enlightenment asa sewing machine, a cane-mill and a devicefor distilling, intended, doubtless, to pro-vide pure water for the family.
