William Clark - Full-rigged ship Daniel Rankin (1861)
Summary
The full-rigged Daniel Rankin was built on the Clyde at Dumbarton in 1858. Registered at 1,048 tons, she measured 194 feet in length with a 34½ foot beam and, for most of her life, was owned by W. Rankin of Greenock. Beginning life trading to New Zealand out of the Clyde, she soon settled into the India trade under Captain Hartnell but disappears from record in the early 1870s, possibly wrecked but more likely sold to new owners and renamed.
