USS San Juan (CL-54) at Guadalcanal Aug 1942

The U.S. Navy Atlanta-class light cruiser, USS San Juan (CL-54), 7 - 9 August 1942. She provided shore bombardment support for the landings of US Marines at Tulagi Island on 7 August 1942. On 8 and 9 August 1942, during the Battle of Savo Island, San Juan was patrolling the eastern approaches to the transport area between the islands of Tulagi and Guadalcanal.
