Justin Melcher speaks to Kimberly Sekera (center) and Heather Machanoff about the squad bay that recruits stay in during recruit training during the Educators’ Workshop aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., March 30, 2016. The workshop is a four-day program designed to better inform high school educators and community influencers about the benefits and opportunities available during service in the Marine Corps. This allows the attendees to return to their place of business and provide first-hand experience and knowledge with individuals interested in military service. Melcher is the operations chief for 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, and Sekera and Machanoff are school counselors for Oyster River High School in Durham, N.H.
