Théodule Devéria was a French painter and photographer, born in 1831 in Paris, France. He was the brother of the painter and photographer Achille Devéria. He was trained in painting by his father and later studied under the French painter Ingres. He was a member of the French Academy of Fine Arts and was a regular exhibitor at the Paris Salon. He was also interested in photography and made a considerable contribution to the field. He mainly used the calotype process, which was invented by William Henry Fox Talbot.

He is known for his portraits, landscapes, and architectural photographs. He was one of the first photographers to document the architecture and artifacts of Egypt, and his photographs of the ancient monuments of Egypt are considered some of the most important early photographs of the country. He also made a series of photographs of the people of Egypt, which provides valuable insights into the lives of the people of Egypt in the mid-19th century. He died in 1881.

Theodule Deveria was a French photographer who was born in 1831 and died in 1871. He was known for his portrait photography and was particularly adept at capturing the personality and character of his subjects. Deveria was also an accomplished painter and illustrator, and he often used his photography to inform his other artistic pursuits. Deveria began his career as a photographer in the mid-1850s, working in Paris and specialising in portraiture. He quickly gained a reputation for his skill and artistry, and his work was sought after by the city's elite. Deveria's portraits were notable for their naturalness and simplicity, as he sought to capture the essence of his subjects rather than simply create a flattering image. In addition to his portrait work, Deveria was also interested in landscape photography and travelled extensively throughout France and Europe to capture the beauty of the natural world. His landscape photographs were characterised by their vivid colours and dramatic compositions, and were highly influential in the development of the genre. Despite his short career, Deveria had a significant impact on the development of photography in France. His innovative approach to portraiture and landscape photography helped to establish photography as a legitimate art form, and his work continues to be studied and admired by photographers and art historians today.
