Summary
Returning to the White House in late 1902, THEODORE ROOSEVELT won the presidency in his own right in a landslide election in 1904. He negotiated for the U.S. to take control of the Panama Canal and its construction in 1904.Roosevelt won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906 for negotiating the peace in the Russo-Japanese War. Roosevelt established five National Parks, he created 51 wildlife refugees, and passed the Antiquities Act which led to the creation of 18 national monuments. On October 27, 2008 the White House hosted a 150th Theodore Roosevelt Birthday celebration.
