News of Jeroboams being thus elected king of the ten tribes came toSolomons ears, and he was very angry. Solomon sought, therefore, tokill Jeroboam; as if he could prevent what God had purposed ; this was asign that Solomon had lost his wisdom owing to his sin, or he would nothave thought and done so foolishly. And Jeroboam arose and fled intoEgypt, unto Shishak, king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death ofSolomon. Solomon now died, after a reign of forty years, and his son Eehoboamreigned in his stead. There were other things which Solomon did, and which were written in abook kept in his time, and called the Book of the Acts of Solomon; thatis, the book of what Solomon did; but that book was not a divine book,and so it has long since been lost.
