Inscribed: "The Honble East India Company's Steam Ship of War, Berenice. Of 756 Tons and 246 Horse power, carrying One long 68 Pounder and Two 32s, standing out of Bombay Harbour. This Plate is dedicated to Sir James Rivett Carnac, Bart, Chairman, John Loch Esq., Deputy Chairman and the Directors of the Hon. East India Company. By their most Obedient Humble Servant, George Grant, Captain Indian Navy, Commanding the Berenice".
'Berenice' is shown in port-broadside view, under steam, in a relatively calm sea, flying the flag of the HEIC from her gaff.
