Summary
Satire on society in the summer heat: a couple walking near White Conduit House, Islington; the man has taken off his wig and hat to mop his head, the wife scolds a servant boy who is carrying her shawl, dog and pattens (one of which he has dropped) and the husband's walking stick; a small girl on the right offers to sell cherries from a basket. Behind three girls look from an upstairs window of their school where "Young Ladies [are] Compleatly Instructed"; one has a telescope which she trains at four naked boys bathing in a pond; beyond a man works on a haystack.
