Summary

Cie. des Chargeurs Réunis' 5,817 GRT cargo steamship Casamance. Ateliers et Chantiers de la Loire built her in 1921. She escaped France's capitulation to Germany in June 1940 and rescued 27 survivors of the Q-ship HMS Prunella. In February 1941 she suffered engine failure in the North Sea and drifted onto rocks on north Yorkshire coast. 37 men got ashore in her main lifeboat but her jolly-boat was swamped and nine of the 10 men aboard it were drowned.
