St. John River bank (36390581224)
Summary
For only 140 miles of the St. John River, Furbish lousewort lives on the north-facing river banks, anchoring itself against spring floods and ice scouring. This river forms the border of Maine and New Brunswick, Canada. This plant prefers relatively steep, moist, north facing slows that are shaded for most of the day by tree canopy cover.
