Seattle Times composing room, ca 1927 (MOHAI 5812)
Summary
The Seattle Times' composing room was on an upper floor of the Times Square Building. The text of the articles on each page of the newspaper was set by hand in metal type. Each page was then printed from a separate printing plate. Today, much of this process is done by computer.
This photo, taken around 1927, shows men setting type and checking page composition in the Seattle Times composing room.
