CATALINA ISLAND, Calif. -- A California sea lion named Franklin swims in the ocean near Catalina Island after U.S. Coast Guard members and a team from the Pacific Marine Mammal Center released him from aboard Coast Guard Cutter Edisto, Aug. 24, 2012.
The Center rescued Franklin approximately five miles inland near Irvine and worked with the Coast Guard to release him back into the wild. U.S. Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 1st Class Henry G. Dunphy.
