SB2C-5 VB-150 in flight 1945
Summary
A U.S. Navy Curtiss SB2C-5 Helldiver of Bombing Squadron 150 (VB-150) in flight. VB-150 was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain (CV-39) in mid-1945. Note the unique tail markings which were probably a version of the geometric "G-Symbols" used by the Pacific Fleet from January to July 1945. The Champ was commissioned on 3 June 1945. After a shakedown cruise and visits to New York and Philadelphia, she was assigned to "Magic Carpet" duty and departed Norfolk, Virginia (USA) for the United Kingdom on 14 October.
