Saber and Scabbard - National Parks Gallery

The saber and scabbard were presented to TR by the employees of the Navy Department after he resigned to join the 1st Volunteer Cavalry. He carried them throughout his service with the “Rough Riders” in Cuba. After the North Room was built in 1905, TR displayed the saber and scabbard on one of the Elk heads in the room.
