(See also Figs. 104, 113.) was probably first used by the Romans, and examples of such workexecuted by them may still be seen at Rome, Tivoli, Pompeii, Baia,Cumae, and in other places in Italy. Many examples of Roman stuccowork were undoubtedly known by the brothers, and in the Journalof James Adams Italian tour we read : Saw also at Cumae some 1 Domenichino (Domenico Zampieri), of Bologna, painter, 1581-1641. 2 Georgio Vasari, of Florence, painter and architect, 1512-74. 3 Algardi, of Bologna, sculptor and architect, 1592-165-4.
