Summary
“The Razor that fits your face” –Robeson SurEdge
This week’s #MuseumMonday offers a glimpse into historical advertising. This Robeson SurEdge razor is one of a few straight razors in Keweenaw NHP’s archival collections. The Robeson Cutlery Company offered customers many options by manufacturing razors for specific beard and skin types, such as one made for a heavy beard and tender skin. According to this advertisement the 35H350 (pictured here) was “Ground and honed for heavy beard, very tender skin. (Rounded edge for nervous man)”. Who might have used this razor? Could it have been a miner? Or a clerk? Perhaps it was employed in a barber shop, helping to shape the beards of many men.
