Summary

Reverse neg. Additional information included inside the negative enclosure and attached on verso of the pl print: "Photograph taken in the rain. Starboard watch are going aloft up the port mizzen shrouds to furl the cro'jack (crossjack) as the lower sail on this mast was called. This particular sail is 90 ft. across and 35 ft. from head to foot. The dimensions of each of the five sails above this one are: lower top sail 78' x 18' 9"; upper top sail 72' x 29' 5"; top gallant 64' x 23' 10"; royal 52' x 16'; skysail 46' x 12'. Three of the four masts are shown: the fore, main mizzen all square rigged. The after mast (jigger) not shown is fore and aft rigged (schooner rigged). Top or cap of main top gallant mast estimated at 164 ft. from water line."
