President (built 1891; schooner, 2m), broadside, at anchor in the oyster beds at San Francisco Bay, CA, after 1891
Summary
Per note on the enclosure, PRESIDENT was an "oyster schooner." This image is reproduced in John Kemble's book, "San Francisco Bay: A Pictorial Maritime History," pg. 105 with the following caption:[CR] "The oyster sloop PRESIDENT at anchor....Built at San Francisco in 1891 and measuring 21 tons net, PRESIDENT belonged to the Morgan Oyster Co. and was used to carry oysters from the camps to San Francisco. Beyond her is a San Francisco Bay cat boat with sail set, and in the distance is a fence built to keep stingrays out of the oyster beds."
