Adrien Tournachon, also known as Nadar, was a French photographer, born in 1820 in Paris, France. He was a pioneer of portrait photography and was known for his portraits of famous artists, politicians, and other notable figures of the time. He is considered one of the most important portrait photographers of the 19th century.

He was a successful writer and journalist, and he wrote extensively about photography, art, and other topics. He was a passionate advocate for the rights of photographers, and he was one of the founding members of the Société française de photographie (French Photographic Society) He died in 1910.
