Planet Stories was a pulp science fiction magazine published from 1939 to 1955. It was known for its action-packed and adventurous stories set in exotic and imaginative worlds. The magazine featured the work of prominent science fiction writers of the time, including Isaac Asimov, Philip K. Dick and Ray Bradbury. Planet Stories focused primarily on space opera, a subgenre of science fiction that emphasised grand space adventures, daring heroes and epic battles. Stories often featured intrepid explorers, interstellar conflicts, alien civilisations and futuristic technology. The magazine's covers were colourful and eye-catching, often featuring scantily clad heroines, menacing aliens and epic space battles. These covers became iconic and are highly sought after by collectors today. Planet Stories played an important role in popularising science fiction during the Golden Age of Science Fiction. It provided an outlet for many aspiring writers and helped shape the tropes and themes of the genre. Although Planet Stories ceased publication in 1955 due to declining sales, its influence on science fiction literature and popular culture is still felt today. Many of its stories have been reprinted in anthologies, and the magazine is remembered as a classic example of pulp science fiction.
