A portrayal of the Place du parvis in 1865. Located near the Notre-Dame Cathedral, it once served as a market and gathering place, as well as a place for criminals to publicly repent. It underwent numerous architectural changes throughout the centuries; originally elevated and enclosed, its access was limited during the Middle Ages.
