Place du Châtelet et Pont au Change, 1830
Summary
"The Place du Châtelet takes its name from the ancient fortress, Le Grand Châtelet, that was constructed to guard the Pont au Change. It was destroyed by Napoléon I. Napleon III, however, gave it its present form. In the center of the Place stands a fountain. A column, built in 1808, is a monument to the victories of Napoléon I."
