Pistol Gun Worm - GRPO 17796 - Public Domain image, National Parks Gallery
Summary
Ferrous metal gun worm, likely for a pistol based on its small size. Circular, hollow-shafted with a spiral, spring like head. The coil head would accommodate a cleaning cloth or linen tow and then screwed to a wooden ramrod to clean out corrosive black powder residue in the barrel. This piece was recovered by park archeologists in 2007.
