Glenn, Jr., 39, relaxes in the suit room prior to undergoing centrifuge tests which subjected him to G forces similar to those he might undergo in being placed into an orbital flight. Glenn is one of three National Aeronautics and Space Administration astronauts chosen for the first manned suborbital flight, one of a series of flights in the Project Mercury program.
