BOOSTER LANDING - A North American Rockwell Space Division artist's concept of a space shuttle booster which is designed to carry "orbiter" craft with men and cargo to the fringe of space. Here, the booster is returning for a conventional Earth landing. The new space shuttle concept was announced with the report that North American Rockwell Space Division, Downey, Calif., and General Dynamics Convair Division have teamed to compete for the next generation space transportation system study contract. The booster in this artist's concept is to be designed and built by the Convair Division of General Dynamics, San Diego, Calif.
