North American SNJ-3C: This North American SNJ-3C trainer underwent trials at Langley in NACA hands from December 1942 until July 1945. The "C" suffix denoted a tailhook-equipped SNJ-3, which would enable the trainer to make arrested landings on an aircraft carrier. This tailhook is visible just underneath the rear fuselage.
