Rasmussen with a copy of a tribute inserted into the Congressional Record on the occasion of Rasmussen's retirement as Director of the National Naval Aviation Museum. A combat aviator in Vietnam, where he survived the fire aboard the aircraft carrier Oriskany (CVA 34) in 1966, Rasmussen served as director of the Navy's official museum for naval aviation for 27 years.
