Summary

23 August 1941. Aerial starboard side view of the UK refrigerated cargo motor ship Empire Star. Note the defensive armament consisting of a 4 inch gun right aft with a 12-pounder anti-aircraft gun sited above it. Empire Star was part of the first trans-Tasman convoy, VK 1, in December 1940 and took part in the evacuation of Singapore and Java in February 1942.
