We stopped here at the HotelModerne facing the river Vilaine, and as it wasSaturday night we put in the evening on thestreets and in the various cafes where we couldlisten to the music and study the people. Nearlyevery cafe had its female orchestra, composedof fair French damsels dressed in white. Theyplayed near the open doorway or out on thesidewalks surrounded by the people sitting atthe small tables which, usually at all theseFrench cafes, stretch far out into the street. Although the next day was Sunday, we gotan early start and made the longest run of ourentire trip, covering one hundred and seventy-three miles. Our morning run, without a stop, 75 otoring Sbroab took us through Plelaii and Ploermel to theinteresting old town of Vannes,
