Newport News, Va. (Nov. 22, 2005) Mayor of Newport News Joe S. Frank, left, presents a Resolution of Recognition award to Cmdr. Robert Williams, the chaplain of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), for the ship's help with community relations' projects for the city. More than seven hundred George Washington Sailors participated in community relations projects throughout Newport News, culminating in the most volunteer hours contributed by an individual Navy command in one year. Since the ship's arrival at the shipyard, George Washington Sailors have contributed over 21,000 hours of community service. The Norfolk, Va.-based Nimitz-class aircraft carrier is currently undergoing Docked Planned Incremental Availability at the Northrop Grumman Newport News Shipyard.
