Letter from John Whitney, Amherst, [Massachusetts], to Amos Augustus Phelps, 1830 Nov[ember] 11
Summary
John Whitney writes to Amos A. Phelps about Mr. Farnhan declining his offer at the school in Hopkington because he "received another offer which he has accepted. Sorry, I say, because he is not only an experienced & approved teacher but particularly because he would have been a great assistance in meetings. I am happy however to inform you that I have engaged another man who is a very superior teacher." He writes that he will be at Warrens Tavern in Framingham on Monday morning after Thanksgiving.
