Letter from George Thompson, St. John, New Brunswick [Canada], to Henry Clarke Wright, 1835 November 25

description

Summary

George Thompson writes to Henry Wright Clarke in regards to his departure from St. John to England. He hopes to reply to his previous letter in depth when he returns home. He says that he has the same views as he does. He agrees with Wright's views of the Constitution and says it fails to protect "the home-born sons and daughters" of slavery. He believes attempts would have been made to murder him if he had stayed in the U.S. He will continue to work for the anti-slavery cause in England.
