La Morgue en 1830, d'après une lithographie de l'époque
Summary
Located on the Seine in an historic spot that was first the site of ancient Gallo-roman architecture remnants and later of the Grande-Orberie, the Morgue is situated in a building that during the 18th century was home to the largest butcher's shop of the Marché-Neuf. It became a morgue by government ordonnance in 1804, but was so run-down by 1836 that the entire building had to be renovated.
