Tamihana Te Rauparaha, or Katu, (son of the Ngati Toa warrior chief Te Rauparaha) standing wrapped in a fine flax kaitaka cloak with a woven taniko border. He is bare-footed and there is a bush on the right. Almost certainly painted at St John's College, Purewa (Meadowbank, Auckland) during Tamihana te Raupara's time there as a student.
