Portrait of Douglas, 8th Duke of Hamilton, on his Grand Tour with his physician Dr John Moore and the latter's son John. Two sitters are full length, point to Great Britain on a globe and look to the Duke. A view of Geneva is in the distance. Provenance: Douglas, 8th Duke of Hamilton, the sitter; John Rushout, 2nd Baron Northwick; Northwick sale, Phillip's 1859; William, 11th Duke of Hamilton and by descent: Hamilton Palace sale, Christie's 1919; Colonel and Mrs Pollen, and by descent; Phillip's, 1991. Acquired with the help of the Art Fund for the National Museums of Scotland in 1992.
