Bidauld was born in Carpentras, France, and studied with the painter Jean-Pierre-Antoine Tassaert. He became known for his landscapes and was a member of the French Academy of Fine Arts. Bidauld's paintings often depicted the French countryside, with its rolling hills, forests and rivers. He was particularly interested in capturing the changing light and atmosphere of different times of day and seasons. Bidauld's work was highly regarded during his lifetime and he exhibited his paintings in Paris and other cities throughout Europe.
