Interior of a shepherd's hut Iceland
Summary
Drawing shows a cut-away view of an Icelandic shepherd's stone and sod dwelling. Women and children are gathered in a raised bed covered with animal skins. Men and another child are gathered around a table. A man and woman stand at the back of the room, the man reaching for a piece of meat which hangs from the rafters. Two dogs and a cat sleep and wander on the stone floor. Taylor visited Iceland in 1862, perhaps en route to Russia.
