Historic Fort Snelling - National Parks Gallery
Summary
Visitors stand on top of the Round Tower of Historic Fort Snelling beneath blue skies and white clouds. The structure is made of native limestone quarried from nearby mines. The fort served to anchor the north end of a line of forts along the Mississippi River. It was built in 1920-1823.
