Hispano-Moresque - Storage Jar - Walters 481184
Summary
Large jars for storing grain and other food stuffs were a fixture in Spanish households. The pattern of the "pardalot" (a fanciful bird) with leaves and various stylized animals appears often on 17th-century lusterware from the Valencian town of Manises. This pattern was also used to decorate plates, cups, bowls, and flowerpots.
