Heinrich Kley was a German artist and illustrator, born on 15 February 1863 in Karlsruhe. He is best known for his whimsical and often dark illustrations of animals and fantastical creatures. Kley studied at the Karlsruhe Academy of Fine Arts and later worked as a freelance illustrator for various publications, including the German satirical magazine Simplicissimus. His work was highly influential in the development of the Jugendstil and Surrealist movements. Kley died in Munich on 8 March 1945.
