This submarine was sunk twice - the first time on 03/11/1940 by a British aircraft near Wilhelmshaven, and after being raised and repaired, it was re-commissioned. It was sunk finally north-west of Ireland by depth charges and artillery fire from the British destroyer HMS Antelope during the seventh military campaign on November 2, 1940.
