description

Summary

Significance: The Haven and Fowle warehouses are typical of the 2 types built. The construction and details are nearly identical; very thick, solid brick masonry walls, heavy timber and slate roofs are common to both. Their interiors were compartmented and paneled with wood, with the exception of a small office which was plastered. The approximately 175 years, these warehouses have stood as examples of early commercial construction in North Carolina.
