Four members of Denali's plant crew work on monitoring vegetation through measurements with the goal of quantifying vegetation for statistical purposes. They work with a 16-diameter circle plot of soil and take measurements of plants and soils. Each plot takes between 2-5 hours. The plot seen here, on Thursday, July 27, 2017, was last measured in 2004 and is near mile 5 of the park road. In 2017, the crew completed 35 plot surveys in Denali National Park as part of the Central Alaska Network Vegetation Monitoring Program.
