English College, Colfax, Washington, 1887 - a05c36b8a8d0929b1d7bbe1e4adbbd66

This drawing is of the English College located in Colfax, Washington. The associated history begins in the late 1870's when a school was established by the name of Colfax Academy and Business Institute. By 1885 the academy had outgrown the small building and purchased land to build a bigger school on the west hill above Colfax. At this time the name was changed to Colfax College. In 1902 Professor English purchased the school and it was then called English College until the building was deeded to the city in 1947. Source: Colfax 100 Plus by Edith E. Erickson.
