Dr. Laurel Freas, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) forensic anthropologist and U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Adam Allen, a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, recovery non-commissioned officer augmentee, fill sandbags of backfill soil alongside local workers, Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, June 21, 2019. During the recovery mission, DPAA personnel and augmentees spent their days digging and screening in hopes of finding missing U.S. Marines lost during the first allied offensive in the Pacific Theater of World War II.
