Decorative Button - National Parks Gallery

This brass button was found on the northeast beach of Anastasia Island, near where General Oglethorpe's British troops had their cannons set up to bombard the Castillo in 1740. It has a decorative design on it rather than a militiary unit number, so it belonged on someone's civilian clothing, perhaps one of the militiamen attached to Oglethorpe's invading forces.
