BOISE, Idaho. (Aug. 24, 2010) Command Master Chief Dave Bission, assigned to Navy Region Northwest, visits with Jake Lambert, a WWII Navy Veteran and prisoner of war, at the Veteran's Home during Boise Navy Week. Lambert was taken prisoner of war for 75 days after his ship, the destroyer USS Perry (DD 844), struck a Japanese buoyed mine and sank September 13, 1944. Boise Navy Week is one of 20 Navy Weeks planned across America this year. Navy Weeks are designed to show Americans the investment they have made in their Navy and increase awareness in cities that do not have a significant Navy presence.
