Circular Quay, Sydney, Australia early 1900s
Summary
This is a photo of a very large format photograph (found in the collection of Henry Mobsby) in the early 1900s. The clarity and detail of the original is quite remarkable given its age and my photo of it doesn't really do it justice. It is a fabulous scene with boats and trams taken in Sydney's harbour area of Circular Quay........a real snapshot in time. .There are 2 large ships as well as smaller vessels. Jetty No.1 is for the Watsons Bay Steamers and Jetty No.2 for the Manly Beach Ferry - return fare 3 pence for children and 6 pence for adults..The names of two large and well-known companies are clearly seen - Dalgety & Company Ltd. and Burns Philp & Co. Ltd..(Mobsby Collection, Fryer Library, Brisbane, Australia)
