LAKE MICHIGAN - Coast Guard Lt. George MacDonnell, executive officer of Coast Guard Cutter Alder, and Cmdr. Mary-Ellen Durley, commanding officer of Coast Guard Cutter Alder, stand with Merchant Marine Capt. George Lisner, a member of the Chicago Christmas Ship executive committee, holding a wreath to be thrown overboard in memorial of the Rouse Simmons, a vessel that sank in 1912 delivering Christmas trees to Chicago, on Nov. 29, 2011. The Alder's crew is continuing the tradition, transporting trees to be distributed to deserving Chicago-area families by charity groups.
